Local Charity Collaborates with Value in the Vale and Vale Homes

At Value in the Vale, we take great pride in connecting with numerous local charities and organisations throughout the Vale of Glamorgan. These collaborations are always a source of joy and inspiration, but recently, we were especially delighted when Rachael from LIFE approached us with a heartwarming proposal.

Each year, LIFE organises a Christmas Fayre to raise essential funds for their ongoing work in supporting families across the Vale of Glamorgan. As part of their efforts, they are always exploring new and creative ways to source handmade items for sale at the event.

Rachael had the wonderful idea of partnering with residents at our Vale Homes, Longmeadow sheltered housing scheme in Cowbridge to establish a craft group. The vision behind this initiative was to provide residents with materials and guidance to
create handmade items that could be sold at the fayre, contributing to the charity’s fundraising efforts.

The response to the craft sessions has been overwhelmingly positive. Many residents have embraced the opportunity to get involved, and the sessions have had a profound impact on their wellbeing. Not only has the group helped reduce social isolation by encouraging meaningful interactions, but it has also provided residents with a chance to enhance their fine motor skills, learn new crafting techniques, and take part in a rewarding and purposeful activity.

As a token of appreciation, Value in the Vale offers small rewards to members of the craft group, acknowledging their generosity and dedication in volunteering their time for such a worthwhile cause. Vale Homes would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rachael and the LIFE charity for their invaluable support in bringing this initiative to life. This partnership has not only contributed to the success of the Christmas Fayre but has also enriched the lives of the residents involved, making it a truly special collaboration
