Why give back to volunteers?
We believe in the power of volunteering and in giving back to those who give their time and skills to worthwhile causes across the Vale of Glamorgan.
For every hour you volunteer at a registered cause, we will give you 1 reward, up to a total of 15 rewards a month. You can then redeem these rewards towards items from our partners. If you don’t want to use the rewards yourself, you can either gift the voucher to someone else, or email hello@valueinthevale.com and tell us that you want to gift your rewards forwards.

How do I gift forward my rewards?
We can talk you through the process of gifting rewards forward. For many people this process looks very different. We would be happy to support you in a way which would suit you and the recipients best.
Do I have to accept rewards?
Whilst many volunteers do appreciate the rewards on offer and redeem them for themselves, no one has to receive rewards and that is why some volunteers choose to gift their rewards forward to individuals or larger organisations.
For others, keeping some rewards for themselves as well as gifting some forward works for them.
What rewards can I earn?
Rewards vary from a free coffee to a car wash, beauty products or an archery session. We try to ensure that rewards on offer are relevant to our volunteers.
Do I need to print my reward coupons?
Although reward coupons are e-mailed as PDF files, they don’t need to be printed off. You can simply save the coupon to your mobile phone and present it upon redemption.
Some coupons need to be e-mailed to the partner providing the rewards. Instructions are given at checkout when this applies.
Can I carry rewards forward each month?
Yes, volunteers often carry rewards forward over the months.
How long is my reward coupon valid for?
Upon redemption, a coupon will be valid for one month. The expiry date will be printed on each coupon.
What if I volunteer for an organisation not listed on Value in the Vale?
You will only be able to redeem rewards or gift them forward if you volunteer for an organisation listed with Value in the Vale.
If you do volunteer for an organisation not listed with us, we would be more than happy to reach out to them and see if they would like to come onboard. It is free you know.
What are the benefits of becoming a partner with Value in the Vale?
Partners have shared feedback with us around the benefits they have seen since linking with Value in the Vale.
For some, they have noticed volunteers may often make a further purchase when redeeming a reward and often they will bring a friend which also results in extra spend for our partners.
Volunteers have returned to our partners which has increased footfall and resulted in a positive word of mouth.
Social media – we will not only promote our partners on our webpage, but we will also cross share partner posts on our own social media channels.
Can I cap the amount of rewards I offer each month?
Yes, partners can cap the amount of rewards they offer each month. It wouldn’t make good business sense to offer an unlimited amount of a product.

What if I don’t live in the Vale of Glamorgan, but I do volunteer within the Vale?
As long as you are volunteering with an organisation listed with Value in the Vale, you can access all of the benefits on offer.

Can anyone attend the free accredited training ‘An Introduction to Volunteering?
Yes, anyone is welcome to attend this training, but please do contact us if you require any extra learning support.
What is the accreditation I can achieve if I attend ‘An Introduction to Volunteering’ course?
The course runs over three consecutive Fridays from 9.30 – 12.30 and upon successful completion, learners could achieve a Level 1 accreditation.
